Nature's Art from Idaho
This tree that
grew around the ram skull was cut down in the Lemhi Mountains in
1940. It has about 170 growth rings which means it probably
germinated prior to the Revolutionary War.

If the skull was hung over
a limb against the trunk when the tree was around 35 years old, that
would be approximately the time of the Lewis and Clark
Expedition.

If the tree was around 65
years old, that would be in the era of the fur trapping
expeditions.
